JCB secures multi-million pound order from Dutch firm

STAFFORDSHIRE based manufacturer JCB has secured a multi-million pound order for the supply of its compact excavators to a Dutch company.

International rental company BOELS is investing in a fleet of 225 of the compact machines, which range from micro and mini to midi excavators.

The order has been secured by JCB’s subsidiary JCB NV in the Netherlands. It is the largest order BOELS has ever placed with JCB and continues the parent company’s strong start to 2011 which has seen it win similar orders from other hire companies.

The order comprises 100 JCB 8008 micro excavators with the remainder being made up of the 8018, 8025, 8035, 8050 and 8085 models. All the machines will be manufactured at JCB Compact Products in Cheadle.

Tim Burnhope, JCB group managing director for Product Development and Commercial Operations, said: “We are delighted to win a large order from such a respected player in the European rental industry. We are winning more and more large deals for JCB’s compact excavator range which underlines the reputation the machines have for high quality and performance.”

The BOELS business, which is based in the Maastricht region, started in 1977 when Pierre Boels senior began a small tool rental enterprise from his garage with a single grinding machine. Today the company’s rental fleet is valued at more than €200m and the firm has more than 215 branch offices and operates from more than 1,200 rental locations in hardware stores in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Poland.

The company employs more than 1,700 people and is highly successful in the rental of party and event equipment.
