ING endorement heralds growth for Slimstock

A COVENTRY software firm is planning for growth after one of its latest products was endorsed by a leading bank.

Slimstock, which employs more than 80 people, provides specialised software in the field of forecasting, demand planning, supply chain management and inventory management.

The firm, which has more than 400 customers, has seen its inventory optimisation tool Slim4 judged ‘the most innovative idea in retail excellence’ by the ING Group.

The Amsterdam-based global banking, investment and insurance company said the software programme would have a positive impact on financial efficiency.

Initiated by the group to broaden knowledge and stimulate new retail-related thinking, the ING Retail Year Awards, which have been running for 15 years, are considered one of Holland’s premier sector industry awards.

Judges cited the tool’s “ability to contribute to performance, proven success, versatility, and accuracy in projecting forward levels of safety stock and future demand” as the decisive factor in making it the award winner.

Slim4, developed at the firm’s Coventry base, is designed to reduce inventory levels and capital investment, while improving product availability.

Customers include Halfords, Hobbycraft and Tobar Group whose main High Street outlet is Hawkin’s Bazaar, alongside key clients in automotive, electricals and flow control sectors.

Slimstock retail directors Stefan Kooijmans and Peter Bocken said the accolade was “a tremendous incentive for retailers to adopt a more dynamic approach to stock control”, adding the award was an independent endorsement of the tool’s capabilities.
