Management team leads buyout of care business

The management team of therapeutic care business Amberleigh Care has completed a management buyout of the business.

Managing director Kevin Gallagher and finance director Stuart Lawless led the deal for the company, which has residential centres in Telford and Welshpool.

Amberleigh Care provides specialist therapeutic care and education services for young males between the ages of 11 and 18 years old who have exhibited inappropriate or harmful sexual behaviours.

It is a preferred provider across Wales and it is on several regional frameworks across England.

Gallagher said: “We are very excited to have this opportunity to take the service forwards and to build on the very solid foundations which have evolved over the twelve years of operation.

“In the last two years, we have built the management team and operating systems to position the service as a centre of excellence in this highly specialist area of practice.”

The company was owned by Pat Pritz and Christine Smith, who held 66% of the company between them.

Funding was provided by Yorkshire Bank, but the value of the deal has not been disclosed.

The management team was advised by the corporate finance and tax teams at CLB Coopers, while legal advice was provided by Pannone Corporate. Hill Dickinson provided legal advice to the vendor.
