Housebuilder Walton Homes returns to Stafford after a decade

How the Redfern Rise development will look

Walton Homes has returned to housebuilding in Stafford after a 10-year break with work starting on four new developments.

The developer last built homes in the town in 2006 – when it completed Barbary Grange, a small development of seven four and five-bedroom family homes including a conversion.

It has now purchased four parcels of land and secured planning permission on three.

The sites are located in Walton On The Hill, Wooton, Haughton and Great Haywood respectively.

Amy Summerton, director of the business, said: “We haven’t launched any developments in Stafford in several years, but we always had the area earmarked for future homes. We had an excellent response to our latest collection of properties in Great Haywood, and we decided at the beginning of the year that with confidence returning to the property sector, the time was ripe to introduce further developments.”

The Haughton development, which will be named Redfern Rise, will comprise 11 three and four-bedroom homes accessed from Rectory Lane next door to St Giles C of E Primary School.

Building is also underway on 45 properties at Devereux Grange in Great Haywood, including six bungalows to meet a demand from house-buyers looking to downsize.

The business has also secured planning permission for Creswell Croft in Wooton, which will be accessed from Wooton Drive in Tillington and overlooks Doxey Marshes.

Further permission has also been sought for seven properties off Milford Road, in Walton On the Hill. This will be a collection of individually designed four-bedroom, high-specification homes.
