Funding deal is sweet music for instruments retailer

Birmingham’s largest independent musical instrument retailer is relocating to new premises after securing a new finance deal.
Fair Deal Music, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary, is moving to new 7,000 sq ft premises at Concorde House, Holloway Head. The building is only 500 yards away from the firm’s current location at Smallbrook Queensway.
The business supplies a range of musical instruments and accessories to musicians from across the UK and the move will enable the business to further expand its current range of stock. This will include the biggest selection of electric and acoustic pianos in the region.
The official opening of the new store takes place on Saturday (May 6) and will be attended by Whitesnake guitarist and vocalist Bernie Marsden, who will be ready and willing to perform live.
Commenting on the move, director Balraj Singh said: “I am really pleased that we are marking our 30th anniversary with the move to our new premises. This will enable us to display many more musical instruments for our loyal and new customers.”
He said the firm’s current store would be converted into a specialist drum, pro audio and DJ showroom, which will also be the biggest of its kind in the region.
Funding for the move was provided by Barclays.
Leonard Sharples, business manager at Barclays in Birmingham, said: “Fair Deal Music have steadily grown the business over the years and can now boast a dedicated, loyal customer base. I am really pleased that we have been able to support them with the purchase of these premises which will provide a great platform on which Balraj can further grow the business.”
