Housing plan for former Malvern cycle track

The site of the proposed housing development in Malvern

A former BMX track in one of the most desirable areas of Worcestershire is set to be redeveloped for housing.

Worcestershire County Council, in collaboration with Place Partnership, is inviting bids from developers for the former cycle facility, off North End Lane and Townsend Way, Malvern.

Property consultancy Harris Lamb has been appointed to market the five-acre site, which is complete with planning permission for up to 59 new homes.

As the site is just a mile from the Malvern Link mainline railway station and close to the town centre, it is expected to attract a lot of interest from developers.

Jacqui Bayliss, director, Harris Lamb, said: “This is a prime development site (in) a well-appointed site in an extremely desirable location. We’ve already had a number of approaches from potential buyers and we anticipate a lot of interest from developers over the coming weeks.”

Interested parties have until midday to register bids for the freehold of the site.

Harris Lamb has also been shortlisted in the Medium Business category of this year’s West Midlands Business Masters awards.

The awards dinner takes place at Edgbaston Stadium on Thursday, June 8, and tickets are on sale now, priced £120+VAT or £1,100+VAT for a table of 10.
