Wedding business is perfect match for the Mailbox portfolio

Berta Bridal - one of the collection's available at The Wedding Club

Birmingham’s luxury mixed-use shopping and office development, The Mailbox, has secured a new niche fashion brand.

The Wedding Club, which is set to open later in the year, is one of the UK’s leading bridal retailers housing some of the most exclusive British and international designers for fashion conscious and stylish brides.

It was established in 2011 by Birmingham-born directors Clare Thompson and Emma Clarke, who now also run stores in Knightsbridge and South Kensington.

As well as being the only UK stockist of the Berta Bridal collection, The Wedding Club at the Mailbox will be home to Suzanne Neville, Atelier Pronovias, Rue de Seine, Temperley London, Jenny Packham and Ghost, among others.

The move into the Mailbox sees the business relocate from its current location in Highfield Road, Edgbaston.

Commenting on the move, Clare Thompson, director at The Wedding Club, said: “We wanted to find a location in Birmingham that was in-keeping with our brand, and with its high-end stores and fabulous bars and restaurants, the Mailbox was the perfect fit.

“We’re very excited to be joining the likes of Harvey Nichols, Armani Collezioni and Gieves & Hawkes.”

The décor of the new Mailbox store will be a step away from The Wedding Club’s current style, featuring a sleek and luxurious finish with navy, gold and white accents.

David Pardoe, head of marketing, retail and tenant engagement, said: “An increasing number of luxury brands are choosing the Mailbox as a destination to open their flagship stores.

“The arrival of The Wedding Club is further testament to our reputation as Birmingham’s premier shopping and lifestyle destination and alongside bespoke suiting, fashion, accessories and hair and beauty, the bridal shop will be an exciting addition to the Mailbox’s already impressive portfolio of wedding related brands.”

In addition to The Wedding Club, the Mailbox will also soon be welcoming twice Michelin-starred chef, Atul Kochhar as he opens his new restaurant concept, NRI by Atul Kochhar.

Located in a high profile position at the front of the Mailbox, NRI by Atul Kochhar will extend over 5,000 sq ft and showcase spiced dishes that draw inspiration from everywhere the chef has ventured, from Malaysia and Japan to South Africa and beyond.

The Mailbox is also home to Harvey Nichols’ 45,000 sq ft flagship store; fashion retailers including Paul Smith, BOSS, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein Underwear, Armani Collezioni, Daniel Footwear, L.K. Bennett and Gieves & Hawkes; Ribble Cycle’s first ever flagship showroom, plus Everyman Cinema, Castle Fine Art, Kitchen Gallery, Malmaison, AC Hotels and the Mailbox’s popular canalside bars and restaurants.

In an effort to enhance its offering, the Mailbox is set to launch a new smart technology solution and customer app this summer, which will bring a range of new and exciting services to shoppers and diners.

The new Mailbox app will allow customers to pre-book and pre-order food, access personalised promotions and experiences, book tickets for events and get the latest exclusive content.
