Birmingham Business Park tells tenants ‘On yer bike’

National Cycling Week at Birmingham Business Park

Birmingham Business Park has encouraged its tenants to get on their bikes – as part of National Cycling Week.

The park has been awarded a £2,000 grant from Cycling UK to help support the national campaign, which aims to promote the social, environmental and health benefits of cycling, by running a series of events and initiatives on-site throughout this week.

Events include free cycling training classes for budding and experienced bikers to brush up on their road safety, guided bike rides, Learn 2 Ride sessions for complete novices and free bike maintenance provided by Dr Bike and Karbona.

There will also be a Watt Bike Challenge, in which teams of four compete to see who can cycle 1km in the fastest time. Proceeds from the competition entry fees will be donated to the Help Harry Help Others charity.

Rob Large, director of Birmingham Business Park Management, said: “Health and well-being is an important part of the offer at the park and we regularly run events and workshops on-site for tenants to get involved in, which are always well attended.

“We even have our very own Cycling Community Club, so it made sense to get involved in National Cycling Week to help promote the benefits of cycling to our tenants.

“We are extremely grateful to Cycling UK for awarding us the grant, which has enabled us to put on a broad range of events throughout the week.”

Earlier this year, Birmingham Business Park was awarded Top Cycling and Top Walking Location bronze status by Transport for West Midlands in recognition of its commitment to supporting sustainable travel.

National Cycling Week ends on Sunday.
