Recruitment firm expands regional presence with new Birmingham office

A recruitment company with a large presence in the West Midlands is expanding into Birmingham with the opening of its first branch in the city centre.

Workforce Staffing Company has signed a five-year lease for a 1,593 sq ft first floor office at 36 Bennetts Hill after property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton was appointed by landlord City & Provincial Securities to market the prominent city centre office building.

Charlotte Fullard, senior surveyor at LSH Birmingham, said Workforce joined UK Sepsis Trust, which took the second floor when it signed up as the building’s first tenants last year.

“The office is very well located in the Colmore Business District area and is just a few minutes’ walk from New Street station, so it is attracting a great deal of interest,” she said.

“We’re very pleased to have attracted a growing, established recruitment and training company to this city centre office.”

Joe Alekna, of Workforce, added: “We are very pleased with our first Birmingham city centre office, which comes as part of a strategic plan of growth for the company. We already have seven offices across the region and have recently opened an office in Solihull, with Dudley to follow in July to make us a nine-branch operation.”

LSH has also advised on the refurbishment of the third and fourth floors, which has now been completed by office fit-out specialists WorkBox.

Nicki Brotherston, of WorkBox, said it unearthed a brick feature fireplace when taking plaster off the chimney-breast wall, which was made into a feature wall with exposed brick and open fire.

”We also discovered parquet flooring in some areas, which has been restored and left exposed,” she said. “The building is in a prime location, has so much character and unearthing the features have kept the Victorian character alive. We are all very proud of the overall look and feel of the building.”

LSH is now trying to attract new occupiers for the two remaining floors, both of which are about 1,800 sq ft.

“Demand for offices of this size remains strong in the city and we are confident of securing tenants for the third and fourth floors quickly,” added Ms Fullard.
