A West Bromwich commercial vehicle dealer has fashioned itself a £1.2m contract win.

Guest Truck and Van has agreed a deal to supply 14 new customised Iveco Stralis trucks to Transmec, a global freight company responsible for transporting a large proportion of Britain’s fashion and automotive freight around the UK and Europe.

Robert Spittle, managing director at Guest Truck and Van, said: “Transmec have taken the time to look at exactly what they need from a truck for the sort of operation it is running.

“Modern commercial fleets are about efficiency, performance and maximising productivity. That means intelligent engineering and designing the cab around drivers who want a high level of comfort, infotainment and an excellent working environment. The Transmec trucks have sleeper cabs and are even equipped with a high capacity fridge.”

The 480hp IVECO Stralis trucks are fitted with the latest height intuitive satnav and road safety systems including driver attention support as well as driver comforts like fridges and infotainment system.

Transmec operates more than 180 latest-generation tractor units and handles more than one million shipments each year.

It has previously used Guest for other contracts.

Imran Mohammed, financial controller at Transmec, said: “We chose this dealer and manufacturer combination because of the flexibility, value and good customer service they have offered.”

Guest Truck and Van has a network of 13 locations across the Midlands, East Anglia and South Yorkshire. The company employs more than 200 staff in its servicing and engineering operation, with a total staff count of 460.
