1pm Update

All lanes have now reopened but there are still delays in the area. Normal conditions are not expected until after 2pm.

The M69 in Warwickshire is closed southbound between Junction 1 and the M6 at Junction 2 (Ansty Park/Coventry) due to a vehicle fire which has resulted in a large fuel spillage across all lanes of the carriageway.

There are long delays in the area and Highways England has said the situation is unlikely to clear until around midday, with normal driving conditions not resuming until around 1pm.

A specialist cleaning team with a sweeper and hydro-blaster is being used to clean the spillage.

Diversions have been enforced and drivers have been advised to look out for the Hollow Triangle Symbol.

The diversion is: exit the M69 at J1 and take A5 southbound, remain on the A5 to the junction with the A426, join the A426 southbound and continue to the M6 at Junction 1. From here, join the M6 north and continue to M6 at Junction 2.

Drivers have been advised to allow extra time for their journey and to possibly consider alternative routes.
