Traffic Alert: Long delays to M6 after lorry overturns

Three lanes are closed on the M6 southbound between Junctions 10 (Walsall/Wolverhampton) and 9 (Wednesbury) following a collision between three lorries and a car, which resulted in one of the lorries overturning.

Drivers are being warned of delays of around 90 minutes with queues stretching back to Junction 11 (Cannock). Highways England has advised motorists to avoid the route if possible.

The M5 northbound where it connects with the M6 at Junction 8 is also slow, with traffic stretching back of the roadworks between Junctions 1 and 2 (West Bromwich/Oldbury).

Traffic heading north along the M6 is also slow, with queues back to towards Junction 7 at Great Barr.

The Black Country Route and other approach roads are also said to be very busy.

The situation has been compounded by a second, separate collision, which has closed two lanes on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 6 (A38/Birmingham city centre) and 65 (Castle Bromwich).

This is not expected to clear until after 9.30am.
