Birmingham recruitment firm expands national footprint

A Birmingham-based recruitment firm has expanded its national footprint by establishing new operations in London and Milton Keynes.

Habakuk Recruitment places marketeers in a range of sectors including technology, healthcare, finance and law, sport and events, construction, fashion, and agency.

The agency, which is currently sourcing its own staffing needs for its new offices, has opted to expand because of its growing workload.

It has supported 30 placements in the last ten months.

Lauren Valler, who founded the company on Christian foundations, adopts an ethical approach to do doing business.

She said: “I have a background in sales and marketing recruitment but wanted to create a business that reflected my personal values while also supporting candidates and clients in their employment needs.

“At Habakuk we connect by building relationships and succeed by making fulfilling placements for both clients and candidates, understanding their unique values, culture and goals.”

The firm donates a percentage of its net profit to the charitable arm of the business, ‘HKvision’, working with amongst others Miss Macaroon and Birmingham Homeless Outreach. It also has pending partnerships with relevant charities looking to improve individual employability skills.

“Internally we encourage our staff to work to their strengths and allow them the freedom to grow their own role. We want our staff to feel valued and be a part of a team that enjoy working together,” she added.

The business has recently been nominated in the Entrepreneur of the Year category at the 2017 NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards, which take place later this year.

The firm is a graduate of the bank’s Entrepreneurial Spark accelerator programme.

Dale Sidebottom, Entrepreneur Development Manager at NatWest, said: “Since joining the programme earlier this year Lauren has shown a commitment to developing her business and embracing the entrepreneurial mindset. She has created a people-focussed business which complements our ethos as a people-focussed accelerator.”
