Shopping village expansion fully let

The Shopping Village at the Trentham Estate

The latest phase of St. Modwen’s shopping village in Stoke-on-Trent has proved popular with retailers, with all 26 newly-built units fully let.

The additional 21,900 sq ft of shopping space at The Trentham Estate, which St. Modwen committed to last October as a speculative scheme, was fully let on completion.

The expansion has extended the retail space at the outlet by 16%, with the total floor area of the garden centre, shops, cafés and restaurants now almost 161,000 sq ft.

The shopping village is home to 80 tenants overall, with the latest phase of the development seeing 18 new tenants – some occupying double units.

The gross additional rental income of over £500,000 per annum has increased the capital value of the estate by nearly £7m.

Mike Herbert, Regional Director at St. Modwen, said: “St. Modwen’s philosophy has always been to have a mix of national and local retailers at Trentham in order to create a highly successful shopping destination that is attractive to everyone who visits.

“This has continued with the latest phase as national retailers including ProCook, Pavers Shoes, Regatta and Cotton Traders occupy the new units, as well as local businesses RAWR Juice Bar, Milly and Roses, and local restaurant and catering specialists Totally Delicious, who are due to open soon.”

The shopping village has traded successfully since the garden centre and first phase of shops were launched in 2004.

The £100m restoration and regeneration of The Trentham Estate has seen the creation of a venue that attracts more than 3.25 million visitors every year and supports over 700 jobs, with more being created.
