Travel Alert: Major delays after spillage halts reopening of M54

Drivers heading west off the M6 into Shropshire have been warned of delays following the closure of a busy section of the M54.

Over-running roadworks have closed the westbound section of the M54 between Junction 1 at Featherstone and 2, the exit for Penderford and Wolverhampton.

Highways England had said it was hoping that normal conditions would have resumed by now but a spillage of hydraulic fluid has delayed the situation and there is currently no update on when the route will be clear.

The closure is adding to delays on the M6 northbound between Junction 10 (Walsall) and 10a (the connection with the M54).
