Hotel targets the Premier League after investment in new facilities

A Warwickshire hotel is targeting football teams in the Premier League after investing in new facilities.

Hallmark Hotel – The Welcombe in Stratford-upon-Avon has installed a full-size football training ground to complement its range of leisure facilities and accommodation.

The hotel is already a popular venue because of its PGA 18-hole championship golf course and clubhouse.

Located at the front of the hotel at the golf club entrance, the professional football pitch has dugouts and flexible training facilities.

The hotel hopes to attract visiting teams and referee coaching/training from the Football Association and Premier League as well as for sporting agent events, tournaments, team building and residential use.

The pitch can be used for both football and rugby and the hotel is also keen to work with local clubs and schools to enable them to use the facility.

Daniel Graham, general manager at The Welcombe Hotel, said: “Opening our new football training ground has been a significant investment but enables us to enhance our status within the UK Resort community making The Welcombe an all-service viable option.

“Adding this facility has definitely put The Welcombe Hotel on a level playing field. Not many country house hotels can offer the facilities that we do as well as a brand new exclusive football training ground.”

The facilities at hotel consist of 78 bedrooms, seven apartments, the championship golf course, conference and banqueting facilities for up to 200 people, 11 event spaces, a luxury health club and spa with fully-equipped gym, exercise studio, 15-metre swimming pool, outside vitality pool, treatment rooms and tennis courts plus a Rosette-awarded restaurant, four bars and lounge.
