Brindleyplace reveals which charities will benefit in 2018

Brindleyplace Dragonboat Race

Following a record-breaking £150,000 raised for charity in 2017, Brindleyplace has revealed the names of its chosen charities for this year.

Cure Leukaemia and Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice will again be recipients but the Brindleyplace business community is also partnering with charities Buddy Bag Foundation and The Royal Society for Blind Children.

Nathan Sanghera, Marketing and Events Executive at Brindleyplace, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have raised a record amount of money for our charity partners last year and it’s great to be working with Cure Leukaemia and Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice again, as well as two new very worthy causes.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to the Brindleyplace community and the general public for their generosity over the past year and hope that with their continued support we can raise even more in 2018.

“After last year’s success, we’ll be partnering each charity with one of our main events so expect even more fancy dress, family activities and fundraising over the next 12 months.”

For the fourth year running, the annual Dragonboat Race, sponsored by Deutsche Bank, will raise funds for Cure Leukaemia, while The Royal Society for Blind Children will partner the outdoor Film Festival.

Buddy Bag Foundation will be fundraising at this year’s Chilli Festival and activity at Chocival will benefit Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice.

The RSBC said it was looking forward to working with the Brindleyplace team on something a little bit different for the annual Film Festival this summer.

Similarly, Buddy Bag Foundation said the partnership would prove a great opportunity to showcase its work.

Buddy Bags supports children who have fled violent situations and are placed in emergency care, both regionally and nationally.
The charity said that in such instances essential items and home comforts were often abandoned. Buddy Bags therefore include donations of items such as pyjamas and toiletries, as well as comforts like a book or teddy.
