EY secures new associate tax partner from Midlands rival

EY has bolstered its Midlands tax team after nabbing a new associate partner from regional rival, PKF Cooper Parry.

Matt Hodgson has joined EY’s Business Tax Services team and will be focused on developing the firm’s mid-market tax offering in the Midlands.

Mr Hodgson’s client experience extends from entrepreneurial, privately-owned businesses through to PE-backed and large listed multi-nationals. Specialising in advising automotive clients on their corporate tax requirements, he has also worked with Midlands-based clients in the technology, software development, waste and renewable energy sectors.

Mr Hodgson said: “Over the past two years, I’ve immersed myself in the Midlands mid-market where I see the most opportunity for businesses looking to expand and grow.

“The Midlands is already a major draw for inward investment and with major schemes such as HS2 expected to make a huge economic impact, we are competing even more strongly with the rest of the UK to secure investment into this region.

“I’ll be looking to grow EY’s client base in the regional mid-market to support local businesses with their growth and investment plans.”

Linda Marston-Weston, Head of Tax at EY in the Midlands, added: “I’m pleased to welcome Matt into this role as we continue to grow our Birmingham-based tax team and focus our support in the regional mid-market. Matt will play a pivotal role in the ongoing growth of our Midlands Tax practice in 2018 as we continue to recruit and grow our business.”
