Traffic Alert: Long delays after closure of the M6

Motorists using the M6 in Warwickshire are facing long delays this morning following the closure of the northbound carriageway after two separate accidents.

The closure affects the section of motorway between Junction 1 (Rugby) and Junction 3 (Bedworth / Coventry (N)).

There are already reports of long delays in the area surrounding the motorway and estimates are that the road will not clear until around midday.

Motorists travelling northbound have been advised to avoid the area if at all possible.

Diversions are in place, with drivers told to follow the ‘Hollow Triangle’ signs and exit the M6 at Junction 1 onto the A426 northbound until the A5.

Then exit onto the A5 until the junction with the M69 Junction 1. From there, take the exit to the M69 and travel to the M6 Junction 2 (Ansty Park/Coventry).

From the M6 Junction 2, follow the ‘Hollow Circle’ diversion symbol onto the A46.

Continue along the A46 to the Tollbar roundabout and take the exit onto the A45.

Continue to the Stonebridge roundabout and exit onto the A452 to re-join the M6 at Junction 4.
