Fertility company hatches new investment plan

A Warwickshire medtech has secured a new development partnership with a UK-based private investor network.

Fertility Focus is working on a new fertility product – OvuSense – and has linked up with Brighton-based Shadow Foundr (sic) to try and secure the £500,000 it needs for the next stage in its development.

OvuSense is a sensor designed to enable women to accurately predict when they are most likely to conceive.

The product, which aims to determine if the woman is ovulating or not, and where in her cycle she is, is claimed by Fertility Focus to be 99% accurate.

The £500,000 will aid the company accelerate sales, launch a series of new digital marketing campaigns, add new campaigns to potential end-users and clinicians, grow testimonials from current users, and expand its stakeholder base of influencers such as fertility clinicians, reflexologists, acupuncturists, nutritionists and relevant bloggers.

At the same time, the company plans to complete an important epidemiological study into its data set of temperature patterns for thousands of reproductive cycles of its users – adding to the diagnostic claims for OvuSense and enabling further improvements of the algorithm.

A first mover with a Software as a Service (SaaS) revenue model in the women’s health space, and the database of cycles, Robert Milner, Fertility Focus CEO, said the intention was to build on its intellectual property and the perceived clinical strengths of OvuSense and then to secure an exit from the business within a two to three year timeframe by way of a trade sale in the expanding digital health market.
