West Midlands branches part of Lloyds closure programme

Lloyds Banking Group will shut down 49 of its branches across the country, including five in the West Midlands.

After the announcement late last year that the company would be making redundancies, it has now released details of which branches will be closing.

In the West Midlands, this includes Brierly Hill, Hednesford, Upton-upon-Severn, Henley-in-Arden and a Halifax branch in Walsall Park Street.

Lloyds said around 1,230 jobs will be affected by the cuts across the UK, but that it was making available 925 new jobs within the business. Overall, around 305 workers are expected to lose their jobs.

Lloyds said: “The changes in roles are in line with our plan to adapt to and meet the changing needs of our customers.

“Today’s announcement involves making difficult decisions, and we are committed to working through these changes in a careful and sensitive way”.
