People: Former BAM MD takes role with £156m turnover contractor; Lightbox Digital takes on head of strategy; and more

Richard Bailey has been appointed as a director by expanding regional construction contractor Stepnell, which has its head office in Rugby.

Bailey brings extensive senior-level experience from a 39-year career with BAM Construct UK – one of Britain’s largest construction companies – including the last seven years as managing director of UK construction.

In his newly created director post with £156m turnover Stepnell, he will play a key role in helping shape the company’s strategy as it targets turnover of £200m by 2020.

Stepnell joint managing director Tom Wakeford says: “We’re delighted to have attracted someone of Richard’s calibre to our Board. He is well-known for his creative thinking and personal approach with customers and employees, qualities which align perfectly with the Stepnell ethos and culture.

“We continue to refine the strategic direction of the business and how we operate so that we can deliver great buildings for our customers, whilst looking to identify where we can improve and taking a sustainable approach to risk management. Richard’s experience and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to pursue organic and planned growth in a marketplace which offers strong opportunities for financially robust businesses like ourselves able to offer comprehensive technical competency and professionalism allied to the flexibility and focus of a major regional contractor.”

Bailey says: “This is a great time to be joining Stepnell which is in a strong position to build on the solid foundations of the business’s 150-year history. I see my role as a collaborative one, working with the company’s talented employees and teams, looking for ways to evolve the business’s already impressive reputation as a construction partner of choice. Stepnell wants to deliver an industry-leading experience for its customers and employees where culture drives behaviour and healthy outcomes and I look forward to being part of the team.”

Lightbox Digital has taken on a new head of strategy to help support the agency’s rapid growth and new client commissions.

Ricardo Williams joins the Birmingham-based company with a track record of working for global brands such as Harley-Davidson, Barclaycard, Jaguar, MG Motors, Money Supermarket, Saint-Gobain, ITV, O2, PlayStation Europe and Walkers.

Lightbox offers bespoke digital services such as web design and development, App development, SEO campaigns and e-commerce platforms.

Lightbox Digital CEO Rob Pollard said: “A strategic lead allows us to truly understand our clients’ business needs and their wider digital ecosystem, we are then in a much stronger position to provide solutions that are 100% bespoke, future-proofed and the right fit for them.

“Our mission is to always make life easy for our clients, their teams, and their customers. Ricardo’s strategic planning helps us discover more about our clients, their customers, their world and internal/external factors that ultimately will have an impact on how they deliver their services and proposition.

“Without this insight and intelligence, we are just another digital marketing agency and ultimately, won’t add any real value.”
