Positive first half trading for pottery firm

Pottery producer Portmeirion has reported positive trading in the first half of 2018, with strong progress from its ceramic and home fragrance divisions.

The Stoke-on-Trent manufacturer, which produces and distributes products under the Portmeirion, Spode, Royal Worcester and Wax Lyrical brands, said that total group sales are up 11% for the six months to the end of June, and up 15% on a constant currency basis.

“We are delighted with the positive start to the year with strong progress in both our ceramic and home fragrance divisions, the company said.

“With the seasonal weighting of our business, trading in the second half of the year remains important to the group. We remain confident that we will achieve profits for the full year in line with market expectations.”

The company’s interim results for the six months to June will be announced on August 2.
