Robopod and Handelsbanken have teamed up to provide a hire scheme for the Birmingham-based business’s Autonomous Intelligent Vehicle (AIV).

The scheme enables UK companies to use the vehicles in their businesses without the upfront commitment required for a full investment.

Robopod is a reconfigurable system with a standardised platform for robotic applications, and can be used in assembly, dispensing, laser and ultrasonic applications, and machine tending.

Robopod believes this will mean “many more” SMEs can see how effective the automated solution can be for their business.

Chris Gibson, general manager of Robopod, said: “Handelsbanken was first off the mark to proactively help us with the development of the AIV hire scheme. They have worked closely with our business to find the right products and solutions, providing the financial backing required to enable us to offer AIV to a wider audience.”

Robopod worked with the team at Handelsbanken Edgbaston, including Lee Garry, Asset Finance Manager, who assisted with the crucial provision of the necessary finance.

Alan Perry, corporate manager at Handelsbanken Edgbaston, added: “Having listened carefully to the client our aim was to provide a financial solution that fully met their needs and supported this innovative scheme.”
