Huge retail showroom and warehouse comes to market

A huge retail showroom and warehouse overlooking the intu Merry Hill Shopping Centre has hit the market.

The 35,984 sq ft building is on Level Street and was formerly home to the William & Sons furniture superstore.

William & Sons was owned by the William Cole family which first started trading as a building materials reclamation firm just after the First World War.

The family business has been passed down for five generations and has always been led by a Cole with the first name of William, the latest company established back in 1994.

The current William Cole said the family had decided to close the furniture business after the death of his father in 2016, and that the intention was now to become landlords and property developers.

Cole said: “Our change of business interests means there’s an incredible opportunity to rent a modern, well-maintained retail showroom and warehouse of nearly 36,000 sq ft in a prime position.

“For personal and business reasons we decided to call it a day on our furniture superstore following the death of my Dad, but we’re hoping that this will become the first part of our new business as landlords and property developers.”

Max Shelley, associate at Bulleys, said: “It’s pretty unique to have such a large property available so close to a popular retail park, and we’re already getting lots of inquiries from potential tenants
.
“This is a major opportunity, and it will be great to see such a fine building in a prime location passing into the right hands.”

The main building provides a two-storey showroom and adjoining warehouse with administration offices on the ground and first floors, plus car parking for 48 vehicles.
