Work starts on village housing development

Shropshire Homes has started work to build more 80 homes in the village of Pontesbury near Shrewsbury.

Eighty-six homes will be built off the Hall Bank road and Shropshire Homes anticipates the first few properties will be available for the new owners to move into early next summer.

The collection of two, three and four-bedroom houses and bungalows will be located close to the centre of the village, and the development will include a shop, community hub with space for a library, as well as new premises for a nursery.

Andrew Sheldon, land manager at Shropshire Homes, said the village square and green at the centre of the site will also be a “great addition”.

“This is an exciting development for Pontesbury and the creation of the purpose-built community building is the result of working closely with the parish council to agree the design.

“Shropshire Homes has also agreed the sale of a parcel of land to the Co-op to provide a new local store. Additionally, the Ark Day Nursery will be relocating from its current outdated premises into a purpose designed new home.”
