People: Irwin Mitchell poaches from Pinsent Masons to boost corporate team; Six promotions at law firm; and more

The Birmingham office of Irwin Mitchell has announced further growth in its corporate team with the arrival of new partner Emma Callow.

Joining from Pinsent Masons, Callow specialises in corporate finance work and is experienced in advising companies on strategic acquisitions, disposals, corporate restructurings and joint ventures, both domestic and overseas, and general corporate advisory work.

She specialises in advising on M&A transactions in the manufacturing, technology and support services sectors.

Corporate partner in Birmingham, Nick Dawson, said: “Emma is an experienced M&A lawyer who is highly respected in the deal making community and who complements the existing skills and expertise that we have in the team.

“Despite the political and economic uncertainty in 2018, we have had a really strong year and although the headwinds look like they will be strong again in 2019, we are excited about the opportunities that are ahead.”

The Birmingham office of Irwin Mitchell has advised a range of businesses on a number of multi-million pound transactions during 2018. These companies include idverde UK, Nuffield Health, M&J Evans Construction, Hadley Industries and Reconomy.

Callow’s arrival coincides with the promotion of Birmingham-based corporate solicitor Matt Smith to associate. Smith joined Irwin Mitchell in 2011 and he specialises in all aspects of corporate law, including acquisitions and disposals, private equity and corporate governance and advisory.

Talbots Law has made six promotions.

The firm, which employs more than 200 people across its six offices in the Black Country and Worcestershire, has promoted Claire Cooper, Liz Hulland, Yvonne Masters and Richard Stone to senior associates after overseeing strong regional performance across commercial/residential property and trusts and estates respectively.

Talbots Law has also announced a further promotion of two associates to help it manage the operational side of its growth.

Myles Ellis, is part of the Talbots compliance team and, while Zoe Fullwood completes the latest round of promotions after she impressed in her new role as business and operations manager.

Talbots has six offices in Codsall, Dudley, Halesowen, Kidderminster, Stourbridge and on Waterloo Road in Wolverhampton.

The company recorded nearly £12m of annual fees last year and expects to achieve more than £13m during the next 12 months.

A leading HR specialist has joined investment and development firm Key Land Capital, which is delivering luxury residential projects worth more than £40m across the West Midlands.

The company, which recently marked its first anniversary by launching its new HQ in Cornwall Street, Birmingham, has appointed Natasha Beard as head of HR and development.

Beard joins Key Land Capital from Worcester-based cordless vacuum manufacturer Gtech where she was HR director.

She said: “I am very much looking forward to supporting Key Land Capital’s growth and further establishing the business, not only as a successful commercial brand, but also as a trusted employer brand.
