New jobs for more than 150 ex-Patisserie Valerie staff

Patisserie Valerie’s concessions within Debenhams stores have been replaced by French patisserie and brasserie concept Cafe De Pierre, providing employment for 150 people who lost their jobs when the cafe chain collapsed in January.

Operated by The Lux Management and Investment Group, which is behind Caffe Concerto and The Grand Caffe, the brand has already taken over concessions in the department stores in London’s Oxford Street, Westfield London, Wandsworth, Stevenage, Chelmsford, Telford, and Liverpool, The Caterer reported.

It will soon extend its offerings to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Dublin and Cardiff.

Lux has employed more than 150 ex-Patisserie Valerie employees, who had been made redundant after the Birmingham-based company fell into administration earlier this year.

It said it plans to take on a further 200 staff in the coming months.

Director Mr Borjak said: “This is a very exciting time for the Lux Group, we have grown year on year and we’re happy that Cafe De Pierre will provide a pleasant and enjoyable oasis for not only shoppers at Debenhams, but also lovers of quality French food and patisserie.”
