New head chef for Brindleyplace’s Maribel restaurant

Fine dining restaurant Maribel is set to get a more relaxed feel following the arrival of a new head chef after founder and head chef Richard Turner departed two weeks ago.

The new head chef is Henry Pertolla, who said he aims to make the Maribel more “accessible” and has revamped the à la carte and tasting menus to prove it.

Pertolla was a finalist and runner up in the 2017 Chef Stagiaire and a finalist in the 2018 British Culinary Federation Young Chef of the Year awards. Prior to Maribel, he was a sous chef at Swinfen Hall in Lichfield, Staffordshire, a Georgian manor hotel.

He replaces Richard Turner who was head chef until two weeks ago, according to The Caterer. Turner founded the Maribel, which opened in May 2018. He launched the Brindleyplace restaurant three months after closing his eatery Turners at 69, which had held a Michelin star until 2017.

Harvey Pertolla said in a statement on the Maribel website: “Becoming head chef at a restaurant like Maribel really is a dream come true for me. I have been working in kitchens since I was 14 and have loved the thrill of creating brilliant food every since.

“For 10 years, I have learnt from the very best in the business and now is my chance to showcase what I can really do.”
