Shared workspace provider to open second office in Birmingham

Louisa Ryland House

WeWork has signed for its second office in Birmingham two weeks after it announced its move to the city.

The shared workspace provider has revealed a landmark building in Birmingham will be its second location in the city.

The company is to open in Louisa Ryland House in spring 2020.

WeWork has agreed the lease with Euro Property Investments Limited (EPIL).

Last month, WeWork announced its move into Birmingham after agreeing a deal for the remaining 55,000 sq ft at 55 Colmore Row.

David Kaiser, head of WeWork UK and Ireland real estate, said: “Not only is the building located in the heart of the Colmore Business District, but it’s also nearby 55 Colmore Row, where we will be opening our first location in Birmingham towards the end of the year.

“Members from each of the locations will be able to attend events, network and collaborate with other members at both locations. In fact, a third of our London members said other WeWork members had given them ideas on how to improve their businesses; I’ve no doubt we’ll see this interaction across Birmingham, too. I look forward to welcoming new members to the space and seeing our community expand.”

EPIL said: “This presents a significant investment by both EPIL and WeWork and fulfils EPIL’s commitment to regenerate this iconic building.”

Birmingham becomes the fifth UK city that WeWork offers space in, following London, Manchester, Cambridge and Edinburgh.
