Black Country air movement specialist breezes through Australasian acquisition

Kingswinford-based Elta Group, an international leader in air movement, filtration and distribution, has strengthened its position in Australasia by acquiring Smooth Air in New Zealand.

For almost 30 years, Smooth Air has operated as a leading ventilation company in the New Zealand market, with more than 85 members of staff located across Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.

The latest acquisition follows the steady growth of Elta Group’s portfolio in Australasia through the development of Idealair, Fantech, Fantech Trade and Elta Fans.

In New Zealand specifically, the acquisition of NCS Acoustics has provided collaborative growth as well as increased market share in building services and OEM applications.

David Ball, Chairman of Elta Group, commented: “Not only is Smooth Air a leader in its field, its owners have created a culture reflective of Elta Group’s own family approach, driven by tremendous spirit. I am privileged that they are now part of our family.”

Smooth Air’s manufacturing facilities use the latest production technologies and equipment, fitting in with Elta Group businesses.

This is alongside the expert application of traditional sheet metal-craft, with specialists utilising vacuum-forming, press brake, CNC plasma, CNC 3D Routing, turret punch, and spinning facilities to create custom-made HVAC components.
