Landmark building to become property firm’s regional hub

Nurton Development’s Trigate offices near Birmingham are to be the new Midlands hub for property solutions provider Fortem.

4000 sq ft will be home to 40 staff, supporting Fortem’s client Birmingham City Council as well as a wider network of 1000 employees and trades people carrying out contracts across the UK.

Lisa Layne, general manager for Fortem said: “Trigate is a landmark building everyone references due to its striking façade and is a fitting location to manage the next stage of growth for the company.

“The offices are a big step up from our previous space and offer an affordable Midlands base for the team which has a significant business presence in the region servicing mainly public sector contracts.

“We’ve enjoyed working with Nurton to secure our new regional hub and have been impressed not only with the flexible space, but the flexible approach to business too.”

Fortem’s head office is in Hitchin, Hertfordshire and has other offices in Rotherham and Stockport.

Nurton Developments bought Trigate in 2009, spending £1.5m on its refurbishment and is now about to embark on a further round of phased investment to create a new reception and communal areas.

Trigate is also home to Flexibase, Nurton’s serviced office provider, offering space from a desk to larger offices able to accommodate up to 100 people.

David Dyas, asset director for Nurton Developments said: “Trigate has been extremely active over the past six months, with occupiers Kerry Logistics doubling its space requirement in January, Sky taking over 1000 sq ft and Osprey Engineering expanding its operations from our serviced Flexibase offices to a more conventional five year lease.

“The offices have nurtured many start-ups and thriving businesses over the years. The flexible nature of the space and scale of the building enables us to work effectively with companies of all sizes and requirements.

“Like Fortem, many choose Trigate for its regional hub as it gives them a Birmingham presence, but without the commuter chaos which often occurs as you get closer to the city’s core. Get past rush hour, however, and you could be in Birmingham in 15 minutes.”
