Forklift business targets logistics sector for growth

A MIDLAND based forklift supplier has expanded with a view to trebling sales over the next three years.

Nissan Forklift (GB) has relocated to new premises at Magna Park in Lutterworth to enable the expansion to take place.

The business has also undergone a restructuring to allow it to diversify and has invested £1m into Nissan Forklift’s production line in Spain.

With a massive logistics market on its doorstep, the firm intends capitalising on opportunities with the launch of a new truck in the autumn.

Derek Robson, general manager, said: “We’ve been putting a strategy into place for some months now that would enable us to operate more independently of Nissan Motors, but maintaining the full support and weight of the organisation as a wholly owned subsidiary.

“With new products in the pipeline, a new production line to improve and increase capacity, new dealers on board and a new UK base, we’re really driving forward with our vision.”

To support the move to Lutterworth, the firm has made a number of key appointments who have been tasked with helping to move the business forward.

“We have retained our extensive team of technical and support staff, all of whom have an average of 20 years’ experience within the materials handling sector and remain a vital part of Nissan Forklift, and are well equipped to push ahead with an aggressive growth plan,” added Mr Robson.
