Former fruit machines building set for refurb

A large industrial building in Wolverhampton that used to house a famous supplier of fruit machines is to be refurbished for new occupiers.

Commercial property consultancy Bulleys says it has already received interest from potential tenants for the 49,809 sq ft premises on Showell Road in the Bushbury area, just north of the city centre.

For several decades the building was home to Maygay Machines, one of Europe’s premier creators and manufacturers of coin-operated amusement and gaming machines, and as a result it was previously known as Maygay House.

Maygay recently left the building after a series of takeovers, and the landlord is now planning a full refurbishment for new occupiers.

Rod Spiby, a partner at Bulleys, said: “This is a detached building suitable for manufacturing or warehouse storage and distribution located just off the main A449 dual carriageway from the city centre to J2 of the M54.

“Properties of this size don’t come up very often so close to the city centre and with easy access to the wider West Midlands motorway network.

“We’re already receiving interest based on the proposed refurbishment plans which are due to commence shortly.”

The Showell Road premises include a two-storey office block at the front and benefits from access around the whole site, private yard and car parking.
