Engineering firm calls in administrators

A Birmingham-based engineering firm which produces components for Formula 1 cars has appointed administrators.

Co-Eng Limited Precision Engineering has been trading for almost four decades and encompasses highly skilled design and manufacture departments within a 15,000 sq ft facility in Coleshill.

The group, founded by engineer Geoff McCurry 39 years ago, recently made a £2m investment in equipment, including £250,000 in specialist machines to train apprentices, as well as what is thought to be the largest enclosed CNC jig grinder in Europe.

The company’s clients include Formula 1 marques, which use Co-Eng’s expertise and products to help stabilise cars.

Richard Tonks and Ian Gould, of Baldwins, were appointed joint administrators of the company on September 23.

A statement on the company’s website said: “The affairs, business and property of the company are being managed by the joint administrators.”
