West Midlands Leadership Awards – meet the shortlist
In the first of a new series, we’ll be profiling those shortlisted in our forthcoming West Midlands 
Leadership Awards.
Tickets are now available for the event, to be held from 12-3pm on Friday 15 November at the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham, which will celebrate the cream of West Midlands business leadership as we crown those steering their companies or organisations to success.
In the first of the series, we’ll take a look at those shortlisted in the Young Leader category.
Gurpreet Bassi is the chief executive of Bond Wolfe Auctions, and the driving force behind establishing the business in January 2019.
He is instrumental in creating the company ethos, empowering everyone to be the best they can be, to grow and develop both personally and professionally.
Gurpreet has a large client base, he is responsible for networking, managing key clients and growing the business. He also manages the day-to-day running of the business and the go- to person for guidance, inspiration and fundamental decisions.
He has worked in auctions since the age of 19, working his way from negotiator to Partner and Head of Auctions at Bigwood, which was later acquired by the SDL Group to become SDL Auctions Bigwood. Gurpreet left in October 2019 to pursue his dream of establishing his own business.

Hannah Bain
Hannah Bain is an associate director based at HSKS Greenhalgh’s Uttoxeter office. Her role is to support and advise a varied portfolio of clients in and around the Uttoxeter and rural Derbyshire area, offering a personal and professional service.
She specialises in supporting agricultural and rural business’ as this is where her true interest lies, supporting an industry that she has grown up around and also enjoy in her spare time, this helps her to offer effective and well thought out advice to likeminded business owners, developing strong working business relationships.

Mike Dixon founded HugglePets in 2012. Since its launch as an online retailer seven years ago, the 
business has already moved retail sites due to demand. It has increased its staff to 17 and increased turnover by 100% in the last three years.
Mike has been there from the beginning, shaping the business plan and expansion alongside an additional company director. He continues to develop the business plan, heading up business development, sales and purchasing and growth through the store and online, including a partnership with eBay.

Rosie Ginday is the founder and managing director of Miss Macaroon. She combines her passion for social enterprise and premium quality baking, born from her training as a high-end pastry chef at Michelin starred restaurant Purnell’s in Birmingham and her desire to provide opportunities for unemployed young people.
In her role, Rosie works with different customers, from individuals to corporates, to create bespoke orders. She also works with businesses and social enterprises often to build networks, create opportunities within the business or to create opportunities for young people on the MacsMAD course. Rosie also works often in the kitchen with the pastry chef to bake macaroons for corporate, wedding and individual customers.

Simone Codringtion has been with Willmott Dixon since 2016, beginning her career as a management trainee in the Sustainability Team, after completing a degree in environmental science. She has now progressed to the role of assistant sustainability manager in the West Midlands where she is responsible for ensuring that the business sets and meets sustainability and environmental goals – as well as developing impactful polices and initiatives.
Willmott Dixon says that Simone has made a real tangible difference to our business, environment and the communities in which it works.
