£40m US Army contract win for aerospace supplier

Aerospace supplier Meggitt, which is building a £130m HQ in Coventry, has won a $48m (£38.8m) contract with the US Army.

The company has secured a five year agreement for the supply of Aerial Weapons Scoring Systems (AWSS).

The full-service contract includes product development, training, installation, field and cyber support, maintenance and repairs.

AWSS provides essential gunnery training for defence customers worldwide, ensuring safe, efficient operation of targeting systems.

In August Meggitt announced its revenue rose to over £1bn in the first half of 2019 which it attributed to “ robust growth” in both civil original equipment and defence divisions.

The company reported a 12% rise in group revenue of £1,070.9m for the first half of 2019, up from £952.2m in the same period last year.
