Two new West Mids restaurants receive Michelin stars

Aktar Islam receiving Opheem's star

The UK’s latest Michelin-starred restaurants have been named – and there are two new restaurants in the West Midlands which are celebrating.

Aktar Islam’s Opheem in Birmingham is the recipient of one Michelin star for the first time. He won Gordon Ramsey’s F-Word in 2009 and has been celebrated for his progressive Indian cooking.

Meanwhile, Pensons in Herefordshire also wins its first star. The restaurant is run by Londoner Lee Westcott. It opened at the end of January 2019 on the Netherwood Estate on the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border.

This year’s Michelin stars were revealed at a ceremony in London yesterday evening.
