New images revealed of huge Digbeth mixed-use scheme

New images have emerged of the planned 30-storey apartment block on vacant land at the Bull Ring Trading Estate site in Digbeth.

City developer Court Collaboration has submitted plans for the redevelopment of the site, to be known as The Stone Yard.

The proposed scheme will provide 928 1 & 2 bedroom apartments with amenity space and 10,000 sq ft of retail and leisure.

Designed by Glancy Nicholls Architects, the site comprises seven residential blocks clustered around two courtyard spaces with a new proposed central pedestrian route linking the Digbeth high street to Green street on the south of the site.

Glancy Nicholls said: “The project is an opportunity for placemaking and to create key landmarks along the prominent B4100 and southern gateway development zone.

“The development is viewed in the context of existing approved neighbouring high rise schemes and will provide a new gateway development marking the approach from the south towards the city centre. Working closely with the city’s planning department, the massing principles have been determined to create a scheme with a mix of scale and density providing a new community with generous external space.

“The design has been developed to respond well to future development in the area and the emerging Rea Valley SPD.”
