Law firm launches HR division

A West Midlands law firm has launched Hexagon HR – a bespoke HR and employment law service for businesses.

Tim Jones, head of employment at Higgs & Sons, said: “Employment law is often complex and ever changing, and the consequences of making mistakes can be time-consuming and costly.

“We recognised that not all businesses have a dedicated HR resource.”

In a recent survey, the Higgs’ employment team found that of those businesses surveyed, just 27% had a dedicated HR team, while 44% said the owner-manager of the business was responsible for HR despite not having specialist knowledge of HR matters. And even those businesses that do have a dedicated HR resource can often find it becomes stretched, given that the role and remit of HR is expanding all the time.

Jones added: “We wanted to give business owners the peace of mind that their employment and HR issues are being handled in a way that is compliant with current legislation, protects their reputation and helps to maintain a stable workforce.”

Although Higgs has offered an HR service for more than a decade, the service has relaunched as Hexagon HR to offer a range of service levels.
