Traffic Alert: M6 closed in both directions after HGV fire

The M6 in Warwickshire is closed in both directions between J2 (Coventry) and J1 (Rugby) due to an HGV trailer fire.

Warwickshire Fire & Rescue are at the scene.

There are delays of at least 30 minutes above usual journey times on the southbound carriageway between J3 (Bedworth) and J2 with congestion spanning several miles and the whole length of the junction.

The northbound carriageway was also closed to due to the intensity of the fire however this has since been reopened however it remains closed within J1, traffic can divert around this closure via the exit and and entry slip roads at J1.

There are delays of at least 15 minutes above usual journey times approaching J1 northbound.

Road users are advised to follow the “Hollow Triangle” diversion route.

Southbound diversion: Exit the M6 at J2 on to the M69 northbound to J1. Take the exit to A5 eastbound and continue to the A426 junction. Take the A426 southbound to re-join the M6 at J1.
