People: Hat-trick of appointments for Urban Growth Company; Expansion for accountancy firm; and more

The Urban Growth Company (UGC) in Solihull has appointed Danny Trup as engineering and programme director, Sue Barrett as commercial and contracts director, and Marta Lenska as office administrator, as its plans to develop the UK Central Hub near Birmingham Airport move to the delivery phase.

Trup brings over 30 years’ experience in delivering multi-billion pound infrastructure projects such as Tideway and Crossrail.  He has also worked on other major transport projects including the Transport for London East London Line, the West Coast Main Line, High Speed One and the Kings Cross Station redevelopment.

He will be responsible for the physical delivery of the UGC’s vision, leading the professional engineering team.

Barrett, who was previously at Transport for London, will lead the contracts and commercial team at the UGC.  Experienced in leading all aspects of commercial management and project controls on major infrastructure programmes, she also specialises in design and construction management of major projects.

Her experience also encompasses Public Private Partnership (PPP) contracts, EU compliant procurement and project controls, while she has also been at the forefront of instigating the Conflict Avoidance Process (CAP) with the RICS.

Lenska completes the hat-trick of appointments, bringing administrative experience gained in various public and private sector roles.  With widespread accountancy and marketing expertise, she will also provide finance and communications support across the UGC.

Jonathan Bretherton, managing director of the UGC, said: “These appointments reflect the expanding role of the UGC as we begin the physical delivery of a wide range of projects in Solihull, such as the redevelopment of Birmingham International Station into a multi-modal transport exchange and upgrades to access points around the wider Hub site.

“Both Danny and Sue have vast experience of multi-billion pound infrastructure projects while Marta’s administrative abilities will provide the support the wider teams’ needs.  We have an enviable mix of skills and expertise in place to really maximise the full potential of The Hub and create an outstanding new place where people want to live, work and play.”
