Plans for Birmingham’s tallest-ever building take a step closer

The scheme would dominate the city skyline

Plans for a 61-storey skyscraper – which would be the tallest building in Birmingham – have been tipped for approval by city planning chiefs.

Yardley-based Europe Property Investment wants to build the £150m scheme at 100 Broad Street in a move which will bring forward 503 apartments created and include a sky lounge bar and restaurant on the top floor, a gym, games room and cinema.

Birmingham’s Glancy Nicholls Architects are behind the designs, which the council have said would make a significant contribution to meeting the city’s future housing needs.

The proposals also include two ground floor retail units with a total of 5,500 sq ft of space.

Birmingham City Council’s planning committee will vote on the scheme on 19 January, with approval recommended, subject to a Section 106 agreement.
