Plans revealed for major Gun Quarter residential scheme

How the scheme would look

Plans have been lodged with Birmingham City Council to build a major residential scheme on Hanley Street in the Gun Quarter area of the city.

Czero Developments wants to construct a 4-8 storey development on Hanley Street that will include 203 build-to-rent, 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom flats with two commercial units on the ground floor.

The exisiting buildings at the site will be demolised and the new scheme is being designed by Claridge Architects.

A statement accompanying the planning application reads: “The architectural ambition is to complement and enhance the spirit of the place in the creation of a contemporary yet contextually driven architectural intervention. The accommodation proposed spans from well proportioned 1-bed, 2-person apartments with open plan living-dining-kitchen spaces to duplex 3-bed, 5-person dwellings with their own private terraces.”

Birmingham City Council’s planning committee will decide on the proposals over coming weeks.
