Plans to transform two Birmingham city centre buildings into a hotel have been revealed.

Czero Developments has submitted plans to turn the Murdoch Building and Pitman Chambers on Corporation Street into a 156-room hotel.

The scheme, designed by BPN Architects, will also see land to the rear of the buildings developed alongside alterations to the buildings themselves.

The buildings date from the late 19th Century and are listed. Work will include restoration work to the buildings’ historic shopfronts.

The new hotel will include a co-working space, gym and meeting rooms.

A planning statement from Donald Insall Associates reads: “In terms of wider benefits, the restoration and reuse of these key listed buildings would lead to the improvement of this area of the city of Birmingham.”
