Jewellery Quarter suit drive appealing for donations

The third Jewellery Quarter Suit Drive is asking for local businesses and residents to donate smart clothing to help unemployed men and women preparing for job interviews.

The JQ Suit Drive will run from 14th January to 18th February and donations can be dropped off at The Big Peg reception (120 Vyse St, B18 6NF) from Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 5:30pm.

Items to donate include lightly worn suits, shirts, skirts, trousers, jackets, blouses, dresses, shoes and accessories. All donations will go to Suited for Success which helps unemployed people with interview skills and clothes.

The campaign has been organised in partnership between the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (JQBID), Suited for Success, The Big Peg and GoodGym Birmingham.

Luke Crane, executive director of the JQBID, said: “Supporting and raising awareness for our local charities is a key objective at the JQBID. The work done by Suited for Success is instrumental in making sure everyone has an equal opportunity to nail that job interview despite their differing, and often difficult, circumstances. We are confident that the local Jewellery Quarter community will be as generous as they’ve been in previous years and we can’t wait for the donations to start arriving.”

Patricia White, Suited for Success chief executive, said: “We’re really excited to be working with the JQBID and GoodGym again on this project. The donations raised will make a big difference to support the unemployed men and women we work with to succeed in a job interview, gain employment and change lives.”
