Financial services firm and architectural practice sign for city centre space

Global financial services firm Alvarez and Marsal and BDP International Architects have signed new leases at an office scheme in Birmingham’s Colmore Business District.

Alvarez and Marsal has agreed a new five year lease for 2,583 sq ft on fourth floor of Edmund Gardens, while BDP International Architects has taken 3,923 sq ft on a new 10 year lease.

The lettings follow the completion of a major speculative refurbishment of the scheme which comprises five buildings centred around a garden courtyard.

Owner DTZ Investors was represented jointly by Savills and BNP Paribas.

Ben Thacker, office agency director at Savills Birmingham, said: “Unique to this part of Birmingham, Edmund Gardens provides the ideal solution for occupiers looking for high quality office space of character in a thriving city centre location, so we’re pleased to be welcoming two new occupiers to the scheme. The tranquil setting and central garden courtyard are highly appreciated by the existing tenants and we anticipate this demand to continue for the remaining space.”

Karun Duggal, of DTZ Investors, added: “The recent lettings to Alvarez and Marsal and BDP demonstrates the quality, amenities, location and appeal of the building to a wide range of occupiers from professional services to creatives. Edmund Gardens can accommodate start-ups and SMEs and is one of the few buildings in the city centre that can cater to a business’s occupational requirements as it grows.”

Alvarez and Marsal was represented by JLL. BDP International Architects was unrepresented.
