UK-China summit in Birmingham postponed due to coronavirus

The UK-China business conference in Birmingham has been been postponed due to the ongoing spread of coronavirus.

The virus has caused more than 130 deaths, spreading across China and to at least 16 other countries.

The UK-China Regional Leaders Summit was due to take place from 17 to 19 February.

A Midlands Engine spokesperson said: “It is with deep regret that Midlands Engine and partners in the UK and China announce that the Fifth UK-China Regional Leaders Summit has been postponed.

“This decision has been taken following extensive discussions and consultation with government departments in the UK and China, in light of events unfolding with respect to the coronavirus.

“Our thoughts and sympathy are with close friends and valued colleagues in China who are affected by this. Discussions are underway to reschedule the summit and we will issue further updates in due course.”
