Community foundation marks £25m milestone

Heart of England Community Foundation, which recently marked its 25th anniversary, has hit yet another major milestone, having awarded £25m to projects and organisations across the West Midlands and Warwickshire.
The charity has granted over £5m over the last 12 months alone. This has seen more than 740 grants distributed to a host of grassroots community causes, local charities, and development schemes that tackle key issues across the region.
Chief Executive Tina Costello said: “It has been an incredible year for the Foundation. We’ve reached so many major milestones in this past year, and it’s great to look back and reflect on the amazing work that our funds have contributed to. To see the direct impact our grants are having on local areas is the biggest motivating factor for both myself and the team; we’ve all been working so hard and so to be able to reach this momentous milestone together is something that I truly treasure.”
The charity supports local projects across the West Midlands and Warwickshire, with programmes like Community Matters, Building Better Lives, and – most recently – the Coronavirus Resilience fund ensuring that work can be carried out by groups across the West Midlands.
Costello added: “We are so overwhelmed with the tremendous support we have received since launching the Coronavirus Resilience Fund and to watch the region come together to help those delivering life-saving support is truly humbling. Every day, we continue to be inundated with new applications from causes that rely on new donations to keep the funding possible. These communities need our support more than ever and I urge anyone who can help to please do so.”
