People: Law firm shakes up tech market with partner hire; Law Society welcomes new chair; and more

Mills & Reeve has recruited technology lawyer and founder of Technology Law Alliance, Jagvinder Singh Kang, to its Midlands office in Birmingham.

Singh Kang joins as new international head of IT.

He founded specialist law firm, Technology Law Alliance in 2003. He has built up a market leading reputation in the technology law field, having advised on billions of pounds worth of technology transactions, involving some of the largest global companies.

He is triple qualified as a technology lawyer, a specialist data protection lawyer, and a qualified software engineer with a first class honours degree in computer science and software engineering.

Singh Kang has also completed the academic requirements for chartered engineer status.

He said: “This unique background allows me to better advise my clients, by applying my understanding of the underlying technology to the associated technology law issues.”

Birmingham Law Society, one of the largest local societies outside of London, has announced VWV’s commercial litigation partner, Dee Kundi, as chair of its board.

Based in VWV’s Birmingham office, Kundi heads up the debt recovery department, advising universities, financial institutions and businesses on all aspects of managing their debt portfolio including litigation, debt collection, and recovery services.

She was elected as a council member of Birmingham Law Society in April 2015 and joined the board 12 months later.

She said: “I am extremely humbled, honoured and exceptionally pleased that I have been appointed as the new chair of the Birmingham Law Society board. Having been involved with the Society since 2015, I hope that I can do this role justice by taking the lead of the board for the society and push forward our objectives, strategy and opportunities. We are working through unprecedented times where we all need to work together effectively.
